Grant Levy

Local boy Grant Levy needs no introduction to Sydney poker players.
It was at this very venue less than two years ago that Levy catapulted himself into the echelon of poker millionaires after outlasting 561 players to win the inaugural Asia Pacific Poker Tour grand final and its $1 million first prize.
A school teacher at St Dominic’s College (a position he still fills on a part-time basis to this day), the 30-year-old now ranks among Australian poker’s most recognisable faces although his breakthrough success at Star City had been some time in the making.
Just two months earlier Levy had cashed for more than $130,000 after finishing 3rd in the PokerNews Cup main event in Melbourne and he has remained a consistent tournament performer ever since.
In-particular he enjoyed an impressive start to 2009 after unluckily bowing out in 13th at the prestigious Aussie Millions for $65,000 then finished second in the $1100 Pot Limit Omaha event at the Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series.
Expect Levy to put up another strong showing on home soil during the Sydney Championships this week.
