One of the most popular players on the Australian poker scene, 30-year-old Eric Assadourian is well known to Star City regulars given that he resides right around the corner in Pyrmont.
A former cash game specialist, Assadourian made his name in wider circles after taking out the Melbourne Championships main event in 2006 – outlasting former World Series of Poker champ Joe Hachem in a high quality final table for an $80,000 payday.
He has since enjoyed a number of cashes in APPT and ANZPT events although his most prestigious result to date came in 2007 when he beat a field of 64 of the world’s best players to win the High Rollers Event in Macau ($368,000).
He also won the New Zealand Poker Championships main event that year but it is in Omaha where he is most feared, having taken out the New Zealand title in consecutive years in 2007 and 2008.
