It has been a busy few days to say the least, starting with the Eric Assadourian Pot Limit Omaha Second Chance tournament on Friday.
I always look forward to PLO tournaments as I don’t get to play as much PLO as I used to pre-APPT 2007 days.
The format for the tourney is definitely a winner, with a start bank of 4k and a second chance disc that you can use to rebuy an extra 4k at your convenience.
Unfortunately for me, the only flop I hit all day was the first hand of the tournament where I flopped the third nuts with redraws to the stone cold nuts and lost a medium sized pot to the second nuts, no redraw.
This was the high point of my tournament.
It just seemed like I bricked every flop and I lasted a mere three hours.
It was great to see good mate Eric Assadourian final table yet another PLO tournament, especially one which was named in his honour. It was also pleasing to see Sydney grinders Van Tran and Danny Hyunh quinella the event. Well done men!
Saturday was my wife’s 30th birthday and I decided to take the day off (missing the $1600 feature event). We had a great day and a biggish night.
It is always great when my family are with me at a poker tournament series.
They keep me grounded and provide great support. They also allow me to focus less on the poker which greatly reduces the stress I feel.
Yesterday I decided to have a bit of fun and sit down with the ‘old school’ in the $750 2- card Manila tournament.
I enjoy playing mixed games like HORSE and the lesser-known games such as Manila as they provide a change to the regular grind of NLHE MTT’s.
I had no designs on winning the tournament but had a heap of fun cruising to a middle stages finish. I was well outside the money but it was probably some of the most fun and enjoyable poker I have played in a while.
Today is the $2,200 6-max NLHE event.
I love six-handed tournaments and I expect a big result tomorrow.
I have had a great deal of success in 6-max tournaments of late, including a fifth place in a field of 1000 in the World Championship of Online Poker back in September.
It is to be my final hit out before I take to the felt in defence of my Main Event title, so I’d like to have a good run.
See you at the tables!
